Trump's Business Sought to Hire Nearly 200 Employees on Visas in 2025

Donald Trump’s family business increased its hiring of foreign workers on short-term work permits this year, while his administration was placing obstacles for other companies wanting to do the same, an analysis released recently claimed.

Based on information from the federal labor department, the business aimed to hire at least 184 foreign workers in 2025 for short-term roles at the US president’s Mar-a-Lago resort, golf facilities and his winery in Virginia.

The quantity of requests for temporary work visas covering staff including waitstaff, clerks, cleaning staff, culinary employees and farm workers was the record submitted by the organization, and up from 121 in the previous term, when his presidency concluded.

It was also the fifth instance in a decade that the former president had attempted to hire more than 100 overseas workers for seasonal jobs at his Florida resort, according to labor statistics.

The revelation comes amid a tightening on immigration laws by his government that has included the implementation of a substantial charge on skilled worker visas; extra scrutiny of the activities of the 55 million people who already hold American work permits; and restrictive new rules for international scholars and reporters.

In total, the business sought to hire over 560 foreign laborers over the period the former president has been in the White House, from his first term and during 2025.

Significantly, the former president was questioned by certain in the Republican party this period for comments defending the need for foreign workers when a company was unable to find people with “specific talents” to fill certain positions.

“You cannot just say a nation is coming in, going to spend billions to build a plant, and going to recruit individuals off an unemployment line who haven’t worked in five years, and they’re going to start making their defense systems. It isn’t feasible that effectively,” he told a host after she suggested that overseas employees lower the wages of US workers.

The administration refused a inquiry for comment, and the Trump Organization did not immediately respond to an inquiry.
