Tottenham Boss Thomas Frank Calls Vicario Critics 'Not Genuine Supporters'

The Cottagers Start Strong to Beat Tottenham and Increase Tension on the Manager

Spurs supporters who booed goalkeeper Vicario were informed afterwards "they cannot be real Spurs fans" by manager Frank.

Tottenham let in two scores in the first initial moments to fall 2-1 to Fulham, registering their 10th top-flight at home defeat of the year.

But the primary topic of discussion was Fulham's next score when Vicario gave away possession well beyond his box.

The goalkeeper came out to handle a high pass and carried the ball near the sideline.

However, instead of booting it into touch, the Italy international turned and attempted to clear away, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Wilson and was controlled by Josh King.

King laid the ball off to Wales midfielder Wilson, who curled a shot into the goal from the sideline measured at thirty-six point six metres.

Moments afterwards when the ball went to Vicario again, a number of Spurs supporters booed him.

The team were booed off at half-time, with the club 2-0 down, and once more at full-time.

A particular of those booing sessions really angered the manager.

"It came to my attention a few of our fans reportedly booed the incident and jeered after, which, in my view is completely unacceptable," the Dane commented about the fans' reaction to his goalkeeper.

"Those individuals can't be true Spurs supporters that act that way. Fair enough booing after the match, fine, but when we are playing, we are supporting each other, we are behind one another moving ahead."

Tete had handed Fulham a fourth-minute advantage prior to Harry Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus scoring for Tottenham in an better second period performance.

Ex- top-flight keeper Joe Hart stated that the next goal was "totally avoidable".

"I do understand the supporters' disappointment," the ex-keeper continued. "I am aware the part Vicario is performing. He is a great squad member, he's a real figure in the dressing room but ultimately you are going to be assessed by your actions.

"The keeper was deeply involved in what turned out to be the winning goal."

'It's Part of Football, I Can Handle It'

Frank Defended His Keeper Vicario Following the Game

Italian national team Vicario is in his third campaign with Spurs.

The 29-year-old stated following the game that he had to take the feedback.

"The second goal was a error of my own, I take responsibility for it," he commented.

"The intent was to clear the ball long and I simply hit the ball in a bad manner. That made an more difficult mountain to climb."

He stated being booed "comes with the game".

"I am mature, how can I respond?" he added. "We can't be affected by the situation in the stands. Supporters have the entitlement to do as they see fit.

"It is on us to stay increasingly composed, to concentrate on ourselves. The team is lacking in calmness and calmness to reverse outcomes. This match is a poor defeat and it is tough to take."

'It Shocked Me No One Returned to the Line'

Despite the keeper's error, it was not an easy goal for Harry Wilson to score.

In fact it was the second most distant Premier League goal of the season – after Adams' 43.3 metre goal for Bournemouth against Sunderland, which incidentally also came on the same day.

Wilson said he was "somewhat taken aback" that he still had an open goal to target.

10 seconds elapsed between Vicario coming out of his box and Wilson striking – which was 5 seconds following the clearance.

"I felt like the goalkeeper was away from the area for ages," Wilson remarked.

"I was surprised not one of the defenders went back to the goal line. When none of them defended the goal, my interest lit up a bit.

"[Destiny] Udogie slipped as well, which allowed me a bit of extra time. Then it was all about trying to make the correct connection and place it on target. I felt a positive feeling, the moment it came off my boot, that it was on the right line."

'During in a Bad Spell, All Seems to Work Against You'

Booing While We Are Still in Play Is Completely Unacceptable - Frank

Although Vicario's mistake dominated coverage, this was an all-round poor performance for Spurs to continue their home ground struggles.

This was their tenth at home defeat of the year in the league, a joint team statistic matching nineteen ninety-four and two thousand and three.

The side still have home fixtures against Frank's old side the Bees and champions the Reds to play prior to the end of the season.

Just a single of those wins have come after Frank took over from Ange Postecoglou in the off-season.

"If you are down 2-0 after six minutes, there is a mountain to climb," said the boss.

"When you're in a bad spell, everything appears to work against you too – the first was a redirected attempt, the next is a mistake from Vic.

"This result leaves us in a place where we have suffered another game. Every game has a single story, today we lost in the first six minutes.

"We simply need to continue striving. The second half was significantly improved and with luck an aspect we can utilize to learn."

Spurs have lost four straight at home capital clashes for the initial time in the Premier League.

And they are recording 9.5 attempts and 3.2 shots on target per game in the division – their poorest rates on file in a one season (dating back to 2003-04).

Former Fulham midfielder Murphy stated that Frank has to endure the criticism.

"He's got accept the criticism," the pundit remarked. "He's taken a prestigious role at a huge football club with enormous expectation. There is pressure and duty that comes with that.

"Their showings at their stadium have been disappointing and they have to improve {quickly|
