The President Invites Families of Attacked Guard Members to the White House
Former President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the presidential home.
He mentioned that he spoke to her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.
Information on the Heartbreaking Event
Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a violent incident on Wednesday in DC.
Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in critical condition.
Memorials across West Virginia have occurred in their honor.
Presidential Invitation
The commander-in-chief said he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both members of the West Virginia National Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” the president informed reporters. “And similarly with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”
Public Response
Attendees assembled over the past few days at the high school in the state to honor Sarah.
Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the state guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to support public safety in Washington DC.
Paying Tribute to the Soldier
“She was the kind of student that teachers desired. She behaved with quiet strength, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that inspired those around her,” the principal, the leader of Beckstrom’s former high school, told the media. “She was caring, compassionate and always willing to support those in need.”
Funeral plans for Sarah are yet to be finalized.
Judicial Actions and Government Adjustments
Authorities have charged a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of murder and charges of violent assault while armed.
The incident led the Trump administration to pause asylum applications and halt granting entry permits to owners of Afghan passports.
Status of Andrew Wolfe
Andrew Wolfe, a native of the city, started his military career in early 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the AP.
He remains under medical supervision and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia leader Morrisey stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
The state’s top lawyer Bondi told the program that she also intended to speak to his relatives.
Memory of the Fallen Soldier
Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County High in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a MP with honor, per the military.
“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had bravery,” the governor told the gathering at the service. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
