'Our Mission Is Solely Eliminating' - How Sudan's Ruthless Fighting Force Conducted a Mass Killing

Militiamen laugh as they ride on the bed of a transport truck, hurrying past a line of several lifeless forms and heading facing the sinking Sudan's sun.

"Observe this extensive work. See this ethnic cleansing," a combatant shouts.

The individual beams as he points the video equipment on himself and his companion combatants, their Rapid Support Forces identification on display: "These people will all die this way."

The men are exulting in a massacre that humanitarian officials believe resulted in the deaths of over 2,000 civilians in the Sudanese metropolis of the Darfur city in recent weeks.

A City Severed from the Outside

Having held the urban area under encirclement for nearly two years, from late summer the militia advanced to reinforce its position and prevent access for the remaining civilian population.

Space-based imagery show that fighters commenced to erect a massive earth barrier - a raised sand barrier - around the perimeter of el-Fasher, sealing off access routes and halting aid.

While the blockade intensified, multiple civilians were killed in an militia strike on a place of worship on September 19th, while the United Nations said fifty-three additional were slain in aerial and artillery attacks on a makeshift community in October.

Explicit Footage Depicts Unarmed Civilians Executed

By sunrise on October 26th the paramilitary force defeated the final military positions and captured the central headquarters in the community, the command center of the Army Division, as the army pulled back.

Among the most horrific footage to appear and studied showed the aftermath of a massacre at a campus structure on the western side of the city, where dozens dead bodies were visible strewn over the area.

An elderly man dressed in a robe was seated alone amid the corpses. The individual rotated to look as a combatant armed with a firearm proceeded descending the steps in the direction of the victim. lifting his rifle, the gunman fired a solitary round at the victim, who dropped to the surface motionless.

"How come is this individual still alive," another combatant cried. "Kill him."

Orbital photography taken on 26 October seemed to confirm that executions were additionally performed on the thoroughfares of el-Fasher, based on a report published by the academic research center.

An observer who communicated stated they had seen "numerous of our kin getting executed - these individuals were assembled in a single location and everyone eliminated."

RSF Leaders Try to Conduct Damage Control

Following the events that followed the atrocity, militia commander admitted that his troops had perpetrated "wrongdoings" and announced the incidents would be investigated.

Among those apprehended was subsequent to a report detailing his executions. Meticulously orchestrated and produced video posted on the RSF's formal Telegram account depict him being led into a cell at a jail on the outskirts of al-Fashir.

Simultaneously, the RSF and associated digital channels began trying to reshape the story.

Updates showing its combatants distributing assistance to inhabitants were shared by various users, while the militia's public relations unit shared numerous videos purporting to display the compassionate management of military detainees.

In spite of the digital effort being used by the RSF, their activities in el-Fasher have provoked worldwide condemnation.
