Nearly twenty-five thousand homes in south-east Queensland were left lacking electricity on the start of the week after powerful weather events swept through the state, producing wind gusts hitting over 100 km/h.

Substantial Ice Stones and Extensive Destruction

Residents reported substantial frozen pellets measuring up to 7cm in particular locations. Meteorological experts announced that multiple regions across Queensland had been hit with large hailstones.

Humid circumstances were predicted to continue along large portions of Queensland's east this next several days as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.

The following day was predicted as the heaviest precipitation period, with continued severe weather risk predicted across multiple regions of both regions.

Medical authorities warned that there was an higher risk of weather-related respiratory issues across the northern rural areas, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.
