England's Coach Tim Southee Unsure on The Ashes Participation
Tim Southee's last Test for the Kiwis was against England in December 2024.
England bowling consultant Tim Southee is currently evaluating the extent of his role will be at the upcoming Ashes contest in the host nation.
The ex- New Zealand seamer is expected to be available for the first Test because of his participation in the International League T20 tournament, which starts on 2 December in the United Arab Emirates.
The 36-year-old, aged 36, took up a role as the English team's pace bowling advisor in the summer after claiming 391 wickets in 107 Tests for New Zealand.
Commenting as England's squad for the opening of three Twenty20 games against the Kiwis was announced, Southee stated of his participation: "We're still working through the situation at the present time.
"We will determine what happens over the coming days."
England pace icon Broad had stated the Australian team as their "weakest squad since 2010", but Southee was in little doubt over the anticipated challenge during the series, which starts on November 21.
"I don't think there's at any time a bad Australian cricket team," Southee said.
"The team's attention is squarely on our own objectives. In my opinion the quality of [the English] side that's heading out to the host country is excellent.
"It ought to be an absolute cracker, that series. Not just [are|do] fans from both nations looking forward to it, I believe the entire cricketing community is."
But, prior to the English team travel to Perth for the first Ashes match, they take on New Zealand in the city of Christchurch on this Saturday.
