Brian Eno Calls On Support to Get Together for Palestine Track to UK Christmas No 1.
A charity drive is aiming to launch a traditional song from Palestine to the top of the UK charts. The project seeks to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.
An Opportunity for Unity and an "Unlikely Coup"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a chance to support Palestinians over the Christmas period. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he commented. “I won't be completely disappointed if it doesn't manage to, festive releases are a thing unto themselves.”
Powerful Theme of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's resilient spirit.
“The song holds a profound significance for countless listeners,” Barghouti said. “It’s basically saying that I would rather die in dignity than exist without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we desire to exist a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Track's Background and Contributing Musicians
The track was produced following a major charity concert held in late summer. First conceived to be captured during the live event, the performance was shelved during the concert due to the event running long.
The notable list of performers contributing to Lullaby features a range of prominent voices from the industry. All took part in the benefit event, which reportedly raised a significant sum for humanitarian aid.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was brought to life by a team of music creators. The song blends a combination of the heritage language with freshly written English words.
The team running the project have clarified that their goal is to generate maximum funds for a dedicated fund. These donations will be allocated to Palestinian causes through an established charity.
“We haven't set a fixed goal,” a figure said. “We will pursue whatever we can get. Naturally, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”
The situation in the region was characterized as its extreme devastation, with a overwhelming percentage of buildings reportedly in ruins or severely impacted.
“In that context, a couple of million doesn’t make an enormous impact. But I think what truly matters is primarily making this cause better known and demonstrating that another narrative exists.”
The song is set to be released on Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the charity concert will be made available for streaming on a digital service from mid-December.
